# Sponsored Menu Content

## What is Digital Merchandising with Jane?

Did you know that brands want to sponsor your menu? Get paid by allowing the brands you already carry on your menu to have targeted space throughout your menu!

Jane's algorithm strategically places these ads to maximize revenue and increase sales conversion.

## How does this look on my menu?

Digital Merchandising can appear on your Jane menu in a few different places:

1. [A sponsored row at the top of your menu](#a-sponsored-row-at-the-top-of-your-menu)
2. [A sponsored product at the front of your category rows](#a-sponsored-product-at-the-front-of-your-category-rows)
3. [Cart toppers at checkout](#cart-toppers-at-checkout)
4. [A sponsored product at the front of your 2nd row within the grid table view](#a-sponsored-product-at-the-front-of-your-2nd-row-within-the-grid-table-view)
5. [Recommend smart sort within the grid table view](#recommend-smart-sort-within-the-grid-table-view)

## A sponsored row at the top of your menu

An example of a Jane sponsored row

For a Jane sponsored row, the row will show products in stock by a specific brand on your menu. This row may rotate with different brands for your customers as they stay on the menu.

We use Jane's personalization to make sure we're always showing products to your customers that they are most likely to purchase based on their current or past shopping activity.

This row will always be the very first row on your menu.

## A sponsored product at the front of your category rows

An example of premium category placement

Premium Category Placement is a digital merchandising placement offered to brands and retailers using Jane powered menus. Brands can now feature their products at the front of a standard menu row, and retailers can increase their digital merchandising revenue through this new placement.

## Cart toppers at checkout

An example of cart toppers at checkout

The new cart toppers sponsored products will display a row called “Add to your order” below the items in your cart on the cart page. It is possible that a mix of sponsored and non-sponsored items will be displayed, depending on the sponsored item supply in your area. These results will be personalized to the shopper based on Jane Machine Learning models.

## Recommended Sort FAQs

### What is Recommended Sort?

Recommended Sort is a new menu sorting option for Jane menus that uses our proprietary machine learning (ML) models to recommend products to shoppers based on their past shopping history. It replaces the default “A-Z” by brand name sort on menus. In testing, the recommended sort increased checkouts and total GMV by over 10% compared to the A-Z sort.

### Where will it appear on my menus?

Shoppers will now see a “recommended” sort option when browsing dispensary menus. When selected, shoppers will see product cards arranged in order of relevance to the shopper. Shoppers will also see additional sponsored results that are ranked according to the personalization model.

### How does the recommended model work?

We use ML models to aggregate historical shopper interaction with products across the entire Jane catalog, grouping products based on similarity. We then identify trends in shopper purchase history and recommend existing and new products that are most similar to those historical purchases on a per-shopper basis.

### Will I be able to customize the ranking of products in the recommended sort?

No - we use data across the Jane network to predict which products are relevant to shoppers, and cannot support customization of our ranking model at this time. Our goal is to put the product a shopper is most likely to buy at the top of a row.

If you have optional brand filters enabled, we will continue to display those brands first in other sort options, but the recommended sort will purely prioritize shopper preference.

### How many more ads will we see?

With the recommended sort option, shoppers will now see up to eight (8) sponsored ad cards inline with product results when filtering for a specific category.

## General Digital Merchandising FAQs

### What does a sponsored row look like?

### What are the benefits of Digital Merchandising?

* Customers are 3-5x more likely to buy a sponsored product
* There is 33% more customer activity on the menu
* Conversion grows 7%
* Units per category sold increases 7.7% when merchandising
* Receive an additional source of revenue without any additional work

### How do we pick which products are displayed in these ads?

We use Jane's personalization to make sure we're always showing products to your customers that they are most likely to purchase based on their current or past shopping activity.

### How do filters impact these ads?

We only display advertised SKUs that meet the filter criteria added by shoppers on your menu, and we adhere to all filters on the left side of the menu. This means that if we only have ads for sativa flower SKUs and a shopper filters for indica products only, no ads will be shown in the flower row.\
\
However, it is important to note that if someone searches Indica in the search bar, we may present them with a Sativa sponsored product. \
\
For deep linking marketing campaigns, we recommend using the filters to control that view as needed.

### How will my store be compensated for these placements?

Brands purchase these placements on a cost per click basis, meaning they pay only when shoppers click on the sponsored product card.

### How do I enable sponsored product placements?

Partners who are opted-in to Jane's Digital Merchandising program will automatically see these sponsored product placements by default, so no action is required.
