# Making Data-based Specials

**How Do You Design Your Menu Deals and Specials?**

Your store is unique and tailored to your customers, and so should your online menu. The stores with the highest conversion rate and cart sizes on Jane all share something: they leverage their analytics when creating specials.

## **Step 1: Do You Know Your Conversion Rate?**

Start by checking the **Web Traffic** tab on your dashboard.

You can see things like:

* Conversion: How likely is someone who visits your menu going to submit an order
* Heat Map: Where your menu is being viewed
* Customer Funnel: The customer journey from *Visited* (landing on the web page of the menu) all the way to *Checked* *Out* (submitted an order).
  * *Interacted* will show you how many visitors clicked anywhere on the menu at all. Creating interesting and targeted specials will see *Interacted* rate increase.
* Top Searches: What is being typed into the search bar on your menu
* Top Products Viewed: What is being clicked into the most

What to take away from the **Web Traffic** tab: An honest understanding of the current customer journey.

## **Step 2: Do You Know What Customers Purchase?**

Next, hop over to the **Customers** tab.

You can see things like:

* Average Monthly Online Orders
* Average Monthly Spend
* How your Customer Base is growing

* Brand and Category Loyalty: How individuals purchase and repurchase. \*\*\*Take special note of this information when thinking about creating targeted specials.
  * Here in this screenshot, I can see that 270 individuals have purchased *Legends NWCS* twice or more this month.
  * Also, according to the data on my 18,000 customers - it’s clear that there is a dominating preference for Flower compared to, say, Tincture.

## **Step 3: Create Specials in Your Jane Business Admin**

Now, create some specials that align with what the data suggests. Based upon Step 1 and 2, I might lean towards:

1. Creating multiple varying Flower specials occurring more days of the week than not
2. Discounts on Legends NWCS during our slowest sales day of the week
3. Crossing Top Brand and Top Category - for example Regulator (Brand) and Vape (Category) discounts.

## **Step 4: Track the Data. Reassess.**

The success of your specials can be tracked in the **Sales** tab.

## **🥇For the Pros: Make Multiple Specials Work Together**

If you have the **Marketplace** premium tab, run a report using your top selling product. For example, let’s say you are going to build a Regulator Vape discount. We know customers are going to get excited about that discount, even if it is very minimal.

How do we increase customer cart size even more? Good question.

On the **Marketplace** tab, run a report on Regulator Vapes. This tab is unlike the others because it is comparing your menu against your state market. In the screenshot below, we can see that when people in my market purchase Regulator Vapes, they are most likely to also have Pre Rolls in their cart. Providing an irresistible discount on Pre Rolls when people are on the menu to shop for Regulator Vapes may very well increase interaction and checked out cart sizes!
