# Jane Global Specials

The **Global Specials** section gives you the power to manage promotions across multiple stores in one place. It’s the perfect tool for overseeing all your specials, no matter how many locations you manage.

## Access Global Specials

To get there, navigate to the top-level **Specials** button at the top of your Jane Business Dashboard.

**☝🏼Important Note**: Specials created at the **store level** won’t appear here. To view or edit those, you’ll need to go to the individual store and click the **Specials** tab under that store's name.&#x20;

### **What’s the Difference Between Store-Level and Global Specials?**

* Global specials allow you to assign multiple stores at once, whereas store-level specials are specific to individual locations.
* To assign a global special to multiple stores:

  * Open the create/edit modal and scroll down to the **Stores** section, or

  * Click the action menu (ellipsis icon) and select **Edit Stores**.

* When selecting individual products to discount you have an option to filter by in stock or out of stock products.&#x20;

  * If a product is in stock at at least one menu when building a global special, the product will show as "in stock."&#x20;
  * If at least one weight variant at at least one store is in stock, the product will be listed as "in stock."

## Permissions & Other Functionality

* If you lack permission to edit specials at certain stores, you’ll still be able to **view** the special but won’t have editing access; however, you can still **enable or disable** the Global Special at any store within your access group.
* All functionality available at the store-level is also available at the global level: archiving, duplicating, bulk editing, etc.
* When you navigate to a store to view the specials live at that store, you may see one of two icons:
  * 🌐 A global icon (denoting that this is a Global Special)
  * 🖥️ A POS terminal icon (denoting that this special is synced from your POS)\ <br>

* Other than enabling and disabling a Special for an individual store, ***you cannot edit Global Specials at the store-level***. If you click on a Global Special on a store level table, you will see a read-only view; however, there is a link to open up the edit view of the Global Special within the modal.

## Global Specials Best Practices

**Setting up global specials**&#x20;

* Ensure your user profile has access to all stores that the discount will be enabled. If needing more access, check with your Retail Partner Success Manager
* Upload custom images - recommended when possible.&#x20;
* Assigning a set date/ time for discounts to be active and disabled, specifically an end date will ensure that discounts automatically move to expired status as soon as the deal ends. This is an automated alternative to manually disabling discounts on menus.
* Archived global specials can still be accessed and duplicated at the individual store level by accessing/managing the archived special at the store level.

**Editing global specials**&#x20;

* Other than enabling and disabling a Special for an individual store, you cannot edit Global Specials at the store-level. If you click on a Global Special on a store level table, you will see a read-only view; however, there is a link to open up the edit view of the Global Special within the modal.
* If store level edits are needed on a global special, you can duplicate that global special and assign store level preferences for that individually enabled store discount.&#x20;

**Testing global specials**&#x20;

* Jane recommends testing discounts in a sandbox store, particularly if there’s nuance to the discount conditions. Once proven to apply as intended, simply enable the global special for qualified stores
* Use of the static ‘staged’ menu URL will reflect specials for testing quickly enabled deals, sometimes sooner than embedded menus. Staged menu URLs are the same format with the unique store ID inserted - <https://www.iheartjane.com/embed/stores/\\><StoreID>/menu &#x20;
* If the available sandbox products do not include the specific conditions you need to test (i.e. brand, category/subcategory, etc), simply adjust to set conditions that are applicable to in stock and available items for testing on the staged menu URL.

**Discount Stacking FAQ / Troubleshooting**

In general, Jane discount stacking will never discount the same SKU more than once with the same discount type, however, we will combine/stack a cart level discount with a product level discount when stacking is set to yes. If/when there’s the same discount type that applies to the cart, the best of these deals will apply (no duplicate discounting at the SKU level).

**Discount Management Recommendations**

* Include specials / do not hide the discount from Specials row and Specials tab
* Advise on all feature functionality that is needed but not available with your Partner Success team member or via the product feedback feature&#x20;
* Schedule / enable custom rows to further elevate discounted items - especially the automated Specials or Sales rows
* Enable Communication banner to feature hyperlinks&#x20;
* Leverage bulk editing > Archive feature to help keep status current, with expired or disabled deals set to Archived status.

**Global specials + POS synced discounts**&#x20;

* Jane’s discount sync API only pulls discounts set to Active in the POS. Deals set for future enablement will not populate in Jane business dashboard until it is Active status in the POS.&#x20;
* Some POS systems require the discount to be visible / made available for e-commerce - ensure that this is enabled for all discounts intended to sync.
* POS synced specials come through as Store specials always, not global.&#x20;
* If a scheduled discount is needed to come through the discount sync, you can set them as active and then (once visible in the business dashboard), re-assign the future/scheduled date/time (in the POS discount setting) that the special should be active. This will move the upcoming discount (in the POS) to re-sync and show disabled status in the Jane discount engine.
